East Bay Community Law Center

Other Information:

EBCLC staff and students assist more than 5,000 clients each year in five areas: housing, employment and income support, health, community reentry, and economic justice. EBCLC's services also include outreach programs such as Tenant Workshops, the Low-Income Eviction Project, the Community Legal Outreach Program, and a self-help legal center, which leverage volunteer attorneys and dozens of first-year Boalt students. Under the supervision of staff attorneys, law student interns are engaged actively in the work of each of these practice areas and outreach programs. All EBCLC clients are very low income, and almost 40% are homeless or underhoused. Approximately 60% of EBCLC clients are African American, 25% are European American, 8% are Latino, 5% are Asian American, and 2% are of other ethnicities. Services include: information and referral; consultation and advice; negotiation; case management; and full representation in administrative or judicial proceedings.
