VLSC provides free legal services in select areas of civil law. Most of VLSC's work is realted to family law, but limited assistance is also providedwith immigration, debt collection/bankruptcy, and assistance for low-income landlords. VLSC does not provide services in criminal law or if you are seeking a monetary award. There are specific income eligibility guidelines. Your family's income must be at or below the median income for Alameda County as set by State of California, Department of Housing and Community Development. There is a $20 processing fee for pro bono case referrals. Volunteer attorneys provide all of our direct legal services on a pro bono basis.

You may be eligible for free legal services through VLSC if you live in Alameda County and have limited income and assets. Please call for information on our current programs and eligibility guidelines.
