Law Foundation of Silicon Valley - AIDS Legal Services
The mission of AIDS Legal Services (ALS) is to secure justice and the protection of human rights for people with HIV and AIDS through the development, delivery and sponsorship of specialized legal services.  ALS is the only legal assistance program in Santa Clara County specializing in HIV/AIDS-related law.  ALS has a staff of two attorneys, assisted by a quarter-time bilingual intake worker, who provide direct legal services to individuals living with HIV and AIDS.  The ALS staff provides assistance in a wide range of practice areas by drafting wills and powers of attorney for health care and finance; representing clients on employment discrimination and reasonable accommodation matters; assisting clients with disputes involving private and public benefits and insurance; advocating for clients in housing and consumer protection matters; representing clients in breach of confidentiality issues; and providing representation or referrals on other legal issues.
